Palm Beach County 4-H Association TechGarage is a student-driven engineering club specializing in creating advanced experimental vehicles and racing them in the Solar Car Challenge, Electrathon America, and other organizations. Through hands-on experience and collaboration via the TechGarage, students learn various soft and hard skills that enhance their engineering and job-ready prowess. Palm Beach County 4-H Association TechGarage aims to spread alternative energy to a broader audience while delivering life-changing education to its members. While we specialize in racing, we intend to broaden our implementation of engineering to create more unique projects in the future.

The Solar Car Challenge is the top project-based STEM initiative that helps motivate students in STEM. Launched in 1993, this program teaches high school students how to build and safely race road-worthy solar cars. The two-year education cycle has students participate in a closed-track event at the world-famous Texas Motor Speedway in year 1 to ensure roadworthiness, followed by a cross-country race designed to give students an opportunity to display and drive their solar cars. We participated in the 2024 Solar Car Challenge and 2025 Solar Car Challenge, and intend to do so again in the road race in the 2026 Solar Car Challenge with modifications to our solar car, the ALSET SPORT.
Support from our sponsors and donators allows us to continue our mission of educating students through STEM activities and promoting alternative energy. More inforation can be found on our donation page
